instead of class within the economic base being a ‘pure’, ‘non-identity’ category unlike superstructural categories, it could be recast as one of the queerest of all categories. queer not as in (just) sexuality or gender of course, but as in an ever-shifting, unruly process of reality-composition/creation whose concrete, empirical manifestations can never be known a priori and can never be essentialized or essentially separated from other categories/realities of existence. i believe this to be a more realistic & empirical understanding of class than e.g. economist accounts.
